San Diego Fair
Bring the whole family to the San Diego Fair located at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. With barn animals, rides, shows, games, music and exhibits there is fun for all. Did we mention the food? Witness fabulous fireworks from the infield.June 12 - July 5.
Del Mar Horse Racing
Come to where the surf meets the turf. Experience the sport of kings and all the fun and excitement horse racing has to offer. Rub elbows with the rich and famous from up high in the turf club or relax with a picnic in the infield. Either way a day at the races is a great way to spend your summer.July 19 - Sept 7.
Nighttime Zoo and the Park at Dark
Experience the San Diego Zoo's nocturnal sights and sounds or take a leisurely stroll through the Wild Animal Park's Nairobi Village and enjoy the African themed entertainment.June 27 - Sept 4.
Old Globe Theatre
Shakespeare in love! Three Shakespearian plays are presented again this year outdoor at the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre Stage in San Diego's Balboa Park.June 13 - Sept 27.
The International Summer Organ Festival
Celebrating 22 years of free outdoor concerts in Balboa Park held every Monday night at 7:30pm.June 22 - Aug 31.
La Jolla Festival of the Arts
A juried art festival featuring 190+ artists displaying original work, also live entertainment, food court, book signings, and celebrity chef demonstrations. Outdoor venue.June 21 & 22.
Summer Fireworks
Several venues are hosting fireworks shows including the San Diego Fairgrounds, SeaWorld, LEGOLAND and several beaches throughout San DiegoJuly 5.
Over the Line Tournament
This year is the 56th annual OTL tournament with over 50,000 people expected. OTL is a 3-person team with rules similar to softball.July 11-12 & July 18-19.
Comic Con
The annual Comic Con convention is coming to the San Diego Convention Center. Comic-Con International also holds a juried Independent Film Festival each year featuring the best short independent films in a variety of categories along with a special programming on the "how-tos" of independent filmmaking.July 26 - 29.
Sand Castle Competition
The U.S. Open Imperial Beach Sandcastle Competition is the largest sandcastle building competition in the United States. Master and amateur sand carving teams from throughout the U.S. and Canada compete for cash prizes.July 17 -19.
Pride Parade
This gay pride parade began in 1974 with a small turn out. But today the mile long parade down University Ave will have over 160,000 spectators lining the streets in support of the parade and supporting organizations.July 18.

Sports and Recreation
San Diego Chargers football season is around the corner and in 2009 their home schedule includes games against Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Washington Redskins. San Diego will also host the Holiday Bowl and Poinsettia Bowl at Qualcomm stadium.December 2009.
Samsung World Championship
An LPGA tournament will be held at the La Jolla Torrey Pines golf club and resort.Sept 17 - 20.
Thunders Boat Racing
Thunder Boat Regatta is coming to Mission Bay.Sept 17 - 20.
